Cosmetic Dentistry in Watford

Transform your smile with cosmetic dentistry

Nothing can replace what nature gave us in the form of our natural teeth, which is why we put so much emphasis on maintaining them. But through dental disease, accidents and genetic disposition, our teeth sometimes need to be restored and cosmetic dentistry enables this.

The appearance, and more importantly the function of our teeth, can greatly affect the way we feel about ourselves. An attractive smile can boost your self-esteem and even take years off your look, and being able to eat and chew without pain or hardship is something most of us take for granted.

Crowns, bridges and veneers are treatments used to restore the function and appeal of your teeth. Depending on your problem, and your individual needs and circumstances, our talented dentists will recommend a suitable range of cosmetic dentistry treatments.

Crowns, or ‘caps’, are covers placed over damaged or unsightly teeth to make them strong and attractive. With our revolutionary CEREC™ machine, Adrian is able to create and fit bespoke crowns that are blended with your natural teeth in a single visit!

Bridges are used to replace missing teeth If gaps are left, the remaining teeth can sometimes shift into the space, leading to further problems. Bridges enable two or more crowns to be attached to adjacent teeth in order to plug the gap and restore your smile. Alternatively, dental implants offer a less invasive solution to missing teeth and may be suggested as a suitable alternative to a dental bridge.

Veneers offer a solution to cracked, discoloured or unsightly teeth or. They are made of porcelain and are fully bonded to the surface of a natural tooth. Veneers often require much less preparation of the natural tooth tissue helping preserve much more of what nature gave you.

  • Why does my tooth need a crown?
When a tooth has a cavity it’s usually repaired with a filling. That works well when there’s enough of the tooth left to hold the filling in. Once more than 50% of the tooth has gone there’s not enough tooth left to hold the filling in so a crown is needed.
  • What are crowns made from?
Almost all our crowns are made from strong ceramic, although sometimes we need to use gold on back teeth. Ceramic crowns are carefully crafted to look more natural and blend in with the rest of your teeth and can eliminate dark metallic lines around the gums that we still see on older crowns.
  • What is a veneer?
A veneer is similar to a crown but it only covers part of the tooth, usually the front surface. Veneers are also called partial crowns. They are made in exactly the same manner.
  • Am I suitable for veneers?
Everyone is different and if you aren’t suitable for veneers, we promise to do all we can to find an alternative treatment to restore your smile. We encourage you to come along and visit one of our talented dentists to discover how we can achieve the smile you desire.
  • How long do bridges last?
If you look after its condition with a consistent, daily dental routine and regular examinations, a dental bridge can last for many years.
